CenterPoint is proud to announce that three of our owned/managed buildings have earned ENERGY STAR® certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA):
- 20250 South Alameda Street, Compton, CA
- 2883 East Victoria Street, Compton, CA
- 8707 San Leandro Street, Oakland, CA
ENERGY STAR certification is the mark of efficiency. Facilities that achieve this distinction save money without sacrificing performance.
“We pride ourselves on receiving the ENERGY STAR certification, a government-backed, nationwide program that helps certify energy-efficient buildings,” said Tom Clarke, CenterPoint Property Manager.
To be certified as ENERGY STAR, a building must meet strict energy performance standards set by the EPA. Specifically, to be eligible for certification, a building must earn a score of 75 or higher, indicating that it performs better than at least 75 percent of similar buildings nationwide.
“The certifications help ensure our buildings use less energy and leave a smaller carbon footprint. ENERGY STAR is a symbol of both financial and environmental performance, and differentiates our sustainability leadership,” said Bob Andrews, CenterPoint Senior Vice President, Asset Management.
In 2018 CenterPoint formally joined EPA’s ENERGY STAR program as an ENERGY STAR partner. “Through our voluntary partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR Program, CenterPoint is committed to improving energy efficiency to help preserve the environment for future generations,” said Elena Daniel, Vice President, ESG & Corporate Affairs.
