National Real Estate Investor reported on the role intermodal properties play in supporting the growing e-commerce industry with respect to logistics. CIC-Kansas City was cited as an example of growing intermodal activity in the Midwest. Michael Murphy, Chief Development Officer of CenterPoint was quoted saying, “Just going 200 or so miles was historically too short for railroads to make any money off of freight, but by taking on this intermodal work, they’ve been able to create a nice supply chain and take trucks off the road.”
