Senior Vice President of Development, Brian McKiernan, was featured on the JOC’s Inland Podcast to discuss the impact of 2020’s expanded e-commerce business and the overall outlook for industrial real estate, intermodal freight transport, and inland hubs like CenterPoint Intermodal Center – Joliet/Elwood.
Alessandra Barrett, Senior Content Editor from The Journal of Commerce: “What are the aspects of the [industrial real estate] business that have stayed the most stable over the last year?”
Brian: “When CenterPoint looks at warehousing within a co-location strategy adjacent to a port or intermodal, we feel that dynamic is only going to get stronger. We haven’t seen a decrease in manufacturing from China. I think there’s still going to be a shift where pharma and some essential items are produced, and how they’re manufactured and transported. For those reasons, we feel intermodal warehousing demand will continue to be strong.”
