OAK BROOK, IL – CenterPoint Properties is pleased to announce the groundbreaking of a 55,950 SF built-to-suit truck terminal for one of the nation’s largest retailers. The facility is located on 25.2 acres at the CenterPoint Intermodal Center (CIC) – Kansas City, which provides direct access to the Kansas City Southern Class I rail line and connectivity to 80 percent of the United States population within a one-day drive. Mark Long, SIOR, CCIM and Tracey Mann, CCIM of Newmark Grubb Zimmer represented CenterPoint and Traci Buckingham Payette and David Hinchman of CBRE represented the tenant.

“We are pleased to welcome a new tenant to CIC-KC, and we’re confident in our proven ability to execute the specialized facility requirements in order for our tenant to develop and strengthen their supply chain in the Southern Midwest region,” stated senior vice president of CenterPoint, Brian McKiernan.

Inbound products to the facility will be received by intermodal and over-the-road shipments, with all outbound shipments destined for one or more distribution centers. CIC-Kansas City is a key logistics location for local, regional and international distribution offering a secure and fully improved site with infrastructure in place. The property features the option for a 10-acre expansion, providing ample room for growth.

“The specialized features of the building that enable expedient throughput in addition to the centralized location with direct access to Missouri Highway 150 and I-49, positions the facility strategically to distribute products throughout the Midwest, reducing cost and time of delivery,” said McKiernan.

The facility features 100 docks, 1-drive-in door, 400-trailer parking, 85-car parking, a 5,000 SF maintenance facility, and will provide work for more than 90 full time employees.
