OAK BROOK, IL – CenterPoint Properties announces a 300,000 SF speculative building on 21.3 acres within the premier transportation and logistics development at CenterPoint Intermodal Center – Kansas City. The new facility is the largest warehouse space greater than 100,000 SF in the Southern Kansas City market, with an anticipated construction completion of early Fall 2014. Mark Long, SIOR, CCIM and Tracey Mann, CCIM of Zimmer Real Estate Services LC., will have direct responsibilities for the marketing of the park.

The facility is located adjacent to the Kansas City Southern Intermodal facility with immediate access to Missouri Hwy 150 and Interstate-49. Notably, the KCS Intermodal boasts container volumes of approximately 66,000 units per year.  Significantly, the new facility is located beside the NNSA National Security Campus, a recently completed 1.5M SF specialized development designed to produce non-nuclear parts for nuclear weapons. The site is fully improved with completed infrastructure and will feature a 60,000 SF wareyard, 60’ speed bays, 32’ clear, 37-door single loaded with 4 drive-in doors and parking for 234 cars.

“As companies redesign their logistics chain and distribution systems for greater efficiency and reach, they find Kansas City well-placed as a business-friendly, centralized location with access to major markets throughout the US,” remarked senior vice president of development, Jim Cross. “Southern Kansas City also has access to infrastructure for road, rail, air and river barge transport, however, there are very few available spaces in modern distribution buildings, which enables CenterPoint to meet this demand.”

This new development expands CenterPoint’s portfolio by offering a state-of-the-art space inside of the secure and private property. The divisible facility is located to meet the demands of clients who require immediate adjacency to rail, close proximity to Intersate-49 and Hwy 150, and low drayage charges.

“The CenterPoint Intermodal Center – KC offers unprecedented opportunities for large warehouse and distribution center users to occupy first-class buildings with unbelievable rail, interstate and highway access,” said Mark Long, senior vice president of Zimmer. “You would be hard-pressed to find another location with the amenities and cost-saving abilities that this park has in place.”
