OAK BROOK, IL – CenterPoint Properties announced today that Weiss-Röhlig’s built-to-suit redevelopment facility and North American headquarters in Elk Grove Village, Ill., has officially achieved LEED-Silver (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification, a prestigious designation representing the property’s strict adherence to sustainable building strategies and practices. This is the second CenterPoint development to achieve LEED certification in 2014.
“Earning LEED certification for our new headquarters further confirms the success of this redevelopment initiative,” said Mark McCullough, Vice President, Operations – Western Region for Weiss-Röhlig. “Our partnership with CenterPoint has and will continue to be integral to our firm’s sustainable, long-term success.”
The 87,975 SF built-so-suit facility for Weiss-Röhlig is equipped with a number of advanced features that contributed to its LEED certification, including energy-efficient HVAC systems, motion operated light fixtures, and construction waste recycling. Weiss-Röhlig has signed on to occupy the built-to-suit facility starting in January 2015 for the next seven years.
“We’re very proud to have earned our second LEED certification of 2014, especially for a facility located in our own backyard,” said John Lass, Vice President of Development for CenterPoint Properties. “More importantly, we’re thrilled to extend our partnership with Weiss-Röhlig and look forward to working together over the next seven years to further integrate sustainable practices into their business processes.”
