OAK BROOK, IL – CenterPoint Properties announces the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) will occupy a 100,000 SF, Class-A specialized facility proximate to the NNSA Campus. Mark Long, SIOR, CCIM and Tracey Mann, CCIM of Zimmer Real Estate Services/ONCOR International represented CenterPoint Properties in the transaction.
APHIS will occupy the building at the CenterPoint Intermodal Center – Kansas City near Botts Road and U.S. Highway 150 in south Kansas City. It will lease 35 percent, of the building, which is expected to be completed in the Fall 2014 as the first structure in the intermodal park. The site is fully improved with completed infrastructure and features a 60,000 SF wareyard, 60’ speed bays, 32’ clear, 37-door single loaded with 4 drive-in doors and parking for 234 cars.
The facility is located adjacent to the Kansas City Southern Intermodal facility with immediate access to Missouri Hwy 150 and Interstate-49 and located beside NNSA National Security Campus.
CenterPoint also has the contract to remediate and redevelop the site of the Bannister Federal Complex. The 5M SF of buildings there are expected to be leveled in 2016 and replaced with new construction, likely industrial, according to Jim Cross, a CenterPoint senior vice president.
The National Nuclear Security Administration is completing its move from the Bannister complex to a new $687 million campus that a partnership involving CenterPoint and Zimmer Real Estate Services developed directly north of the CIC- KC.
