OAK BROOK, IL – CenterPoint Properties is pleased to announce the development of a 292,000 square foot freezer/cooler distribution center for Michael Lewis Company at 21 South 143rd Avenue in Goodyear, Arizona. Michael Lewis contracted CenterPoint as the development manager of the project.

Michael Lewis Co. is a leader in supply chain management and services of in-flight and catering products for the airline industry. The new facility sits on 30 acres and offers immediacy to I-10 creating a more efficient supply chain for the company.

“We are appreciative that Michael Lewis brought us on for this project,” said Michael Murphy, Chief Development Officer at CenterPoint. “It is a very unique deal and a very sophisticated project for CenterPoint. We’re excited to see through the development of the building from the ground up.”

The state-of-the-art facility features include a 27,080 SF office and a 262,190 SF warehouse with a 63,155 SF freezer, 12,912 SF cooler and 20,388 SF temperature controlled cool dock. A solar canopy is situated over the truck docks generating 144.9 kW of electrical energy for the facility. The distribution center utilizes ammonia refrigeration for its freezing and cooling systems, allowing the freezer to drop as low as -10 degrees and the cooler to 35 degrees.

“We are thrilled to have worked with CenterPoint on developing our new, modern facility,” said Frank Kunz of Michael Lewis Co. “Having well-functioning freezer and cooler systems in Arizona’s heat is a great task and CenterPoint efficiently executed this for us.”

CenterPoint worked with Cornerstone Architects and LGE Design Build on this development. This marks the second construction project that CenterPoint has developed for Michael Lewis Co.

“With the facility now fully operational, we look forward to our future business successes,” said Kunz.
